The Super Secret Girls Only Club House
The Super Secret Girls Only Club House is my way of saying "ME" time. I live in a small apartment with a guy and two VERY playful small dogs. It tends to feel crowded at times. I'm sure sometimes you feel like you're in a similar situation. In today's hectic world, every woman needs time alone. So, here's my advice for you. Pick a comfortable space in the house, whether it's a large closet, your bedroom, the den, whenever you can create a space that is yours only. Then, make it personal. Put your favorite chair with some comfy pillows down. Perhaps a little nightstand with some good books you've been meaning to read placed on them. Then, when you just need five minutes, stop what you're doing and announce that you're heading to The Super Secret Girls Only Club House. Be sure your husband and kids know that this means "alone" time. It's a fun and light-hearted way to say...hey, mommy needs a break! Brandi Super Secret Girls Only Club House Member
Achieving Work Life Balance - One Small Step At a Time
Achieving Work Life Balance in your life is easier said than done. No one knows that better than us! We at Attache Services understand how overwhelming it can be for a woman in today's world to find her "zen", her peace with her world. Most women are very happy to work a full-time job, and take care of their children. Some women are just finding it increasing difficult to find time for THEMSELVES. I've scoured the web and found a few great web sites that offer tips, guides, and 5 minute exercises to help you achieve inner Zen in this chaotic world. 1. Real Simple Magazine (www.realsimple.com) - They always have some great tips on organizing in a flash, decluttering your life to declutter your mind, and quick five minute recipes. 2. Zen Habits (www.zenhabits.com) - This is a great simple website for freeing your mind to free your life. They offer in-depth articles on Personal Growth charts, and ways to stay stress-free. 3. Parentdish (www.parentdish.com) - This is a handy site to keep bookmarked if you have children. It's a forum based site that parents contribute stories and advice to. The site owners themselves are parents and understand the difficulties faced in raising children in today's world. 4. Any Woman's Personal Blog - When you have five minutes to yourself, google "women's blogs" and just do a brief scan of what's out there. There are literally thousands of blogs written by and just for women just like you. Find one that writes about a topic you're interested in and connect with her. In conclusion, I hope you take with you today that you are not alone. There is always another woman out there whose been through or is going through what you are going through right now. A woman relies on her girlfriends for inner strength and bonding, it's just something we all need. If you know of any really useful sites in helping women maintain work life balance, let us know! Chic Organzing: Storage Baskets!
April showers bring May flowers, which brings COLOR to your life! After flipping through all my favorite magazines, surfing my favorite how-to sites, and going to social events with friends, I've discovered that the most talked-about must have item of the season is storage baskets! They come in all shapes and sizes, and now with different color fabric insides to really stand out. Here are some great places to put one: 1. Under the coffee table - place lightly read magazines here for others to read while visiting you. 2. Under the bathroom sink - divide out make-up, medicines, and toiletries. 3. In the utility closet - store all of your lightbulbs in one and your batteries in another. 4. In the kitchen cabinet - put all of your on-the-run granola snacks in one for easy access. 5. Kid's room - there are a million uses for storage baskets in a kid's room! Stuffed animals, shoes, crayons, dollies, whatever! As you can see, there are many versatile uses for a storage basket. And, as an added bonus, dump everything out of one, place a paper towel in the bottom of it, and serve bagels to some unexpected morning guests! Storage baskets of all shapes and sizes can be found at Michael's, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Crate & Barrel, and even Target and Walmart. For more storage solutions, check out www.realsimple.com. Career-Driven Women and Family-Conscious Men
Gender Roles are shifting. Partially due to the attitude of millenials and partially due to the economic climate. Millenials value balance and aren't willing to cheat themselves in either their personal or professional life. The economic climate has displaced many employed men and at-home women. As a result, families are experiencing a flip-flop in roles. More men are doing laundry and cooking and more women are putting in long hours. As ABCNEWS.com points out in"Generation of Dissolving Gender Roles" in many households, men and women play equal roles in work and family. http://abcnews.go.com/WN/story?id=7510515&page=1What are your thoughts?
Childhood Innocence
Kids today seem to have it made. No stress in their lives, no worries about finances, the groceries, errands, the everyday bothers of adulthood. I often find myself driving past a playground, envying those little guys running around playing Freeze Tag with each other. What working woman today has the time for play? Well, I'm here to tell you this: MAKE TIME! Stress can lead to so many health, mental, and emotional problems. The everyday rustics of live can be overwhelming, especially while juggling children. (okay, don't actually juggle your kids, you know what I mean!) In this day and age, you've got to just make the time. Take an afternoon for yourself. Jump on the tire swing instead of checking your email while the kids are at the park. Here are a few other ideas for quick and painless ways to be a kid again, and boost your energy, happiness, and overall physical health once and for all. 1. Play a round of kickball in the backyard with the kids. Use paper plates as the bases. 2. Teach your kid to play "spider" on the swing set instead of pushing them. 3. Ask your kids to do a puppet show with you, create puppets out of paper plates or daddy's old socks. 4. Go for a girl's day, indulge in a new outfit, trying on 500 before it. 5. Offer to take the kids to Chuckie Cheese, but get some tokens for yourself and show them up at Foozeball. 6. Teach yourself a new board game, then play the kids on Friday Night. 7. Don't fret when the boys wrestle in the house, join in! 8. Instead of a morning run, go roller-blading, and take your kids on their bikes. 9. Download Hannah Montana songs to your Ipod, wiggle around dancing to it on your walk into work. 10. Smile as often as you can, make corny jokes even if you're the only one laughing at them. It doesn't take much for a woman to feel young again. The simplest things can go a long way in your health, daily outlook on life, and overall attitude. Get busy playing! Off the Field - NFL Wives Conference
On Thursday, April 16th, Alicia and I had the honor to host a table at the "Off the Field" NFL Wives Conference in Washington D.C. What an engaging event! All of the NFL wives from across the country came together to shop around the trade show. Alicia and I hosted a table for her company, Attache Services. We encouraged women to tell us what they would do if they had a personal attache, and what a response we got! It made me realize that every single woman out there just needs a hand sometime. The reason we are all Superwomen is because we have a strong support system. We help each other because we understand what we each need. If you get a chance to meet an NFL wive, please take the time to chat with her, they truly are extraordinary women!
