The Power of an Organized Mom

One of our clients made me smile today as she told me how much her entire family has changed since she started her organization and renovation projects at home. She blushed as she told me about how she walked into the house to find her teenage daughter vacuuming without a direct request from mom and how even her 7 year old son has chipped in to help around the house. Her face gleamed with pleasure as she realized the by product from her personal decision to get organized – it inspired the rest of her family to get organized also!

Sleep Deprivation - its Real and it's Dangerous

Pink Magazine is conducting a sleep survey. One of the questions asked is: What is the biggest obstacle to getting enough sleep? At the time I took the survey the stats showed Household chores, errands, etc. leading the way and Work Demands in a close second place.

On June 12, 2008, 60 Minutes aired a segment called the Science of Sleep. Leslie Stahl and viewers around the nation were stunned to learn about how critical sleep is to overall health. The experts pointed out "people who are chronically sleep deprived, like people who've had too much to drink, often have no sense of their limitations" and many disasters such as the Exxon Valdez spill and Chernobyl involved "poor judgements and slow reactions at a time when people were basically tired" and made simple mistakes.

In addition, the researchers found when sleep was restricted (four hours per night for six nights) the study participants entered into a pre-diabetic state! They also were excessively hungry which may describe why we face an obesity epidemic in this country.

Catasthrophic, life threatening events can occur when we allow work demands and household chores, errands, etc. to rob us of sufficient sleep. If we don't make proper rest a priority for our own health, we ought to do it for those around us. Together, let's recommit to getting our 7.5 - 8 hours of sleep each night. A Personal Attaché can help with the other stuff. That's what we do.

SummerTIME

There's something about summerTIME - time spent in the summer.

Oh the Places You Can Go! Graduations, swimming pools, amusement parks, weddings, picnics, vacation homes...There's nothing like summerTIME. Although you still get a mere 24 hours each day, those 24 just seem sweeter when they fall in June, July, or August.

SummerTIME is extra special for kids. It's their time to stay up late, go days - even weeks - without homework, have plentiful playdates and attend summer camp.

The last thing anyone wants to do is any 'real work' - something about the sun shining so bright just screams 'play time'. So whether you are a career woman or a stay-at-home mom, give yourself permission to have a huge dose of play time daily.

Spend your non-working, non-resting summerTIME with some good, ole fashion PLAY. Take a swim, a walk, or a boat ride - visit a museum, an amusement park or another country - spend quality time with the ones you love.

At Attache Services, everyday is Mother's Day.

Get some help with some of your chores and play instead!

Wishing you the best summer yet,
