They Say a Woman's Work is Never Done

When I look at all the tasks I stuff into a week, I'm amazed at how much I do. Here's what my typical week looks like lately:

  • Grocery shop

  • Prepare meals

  • Clean kitchen and dining room after meals

  • Wash, dry, hang/fold 7 or 8 loads of clothes

  • Select kid's outfits daily

  • Iron kid's outfits daily

  • Drop off and pick up dry cleaning

  • Pay bills online

  • Log and track expenditures

  • Run errands (return/renew library books, take donations to goodwill, mail letters, pick up enrollment forms from daycare, drop off required medical forms at pediatrician's office)

  • Send in snack for kids

  • Sign kids up for activities (soccer, after-school class, basketball, swimming)

  • Find and enroll kids in summer camp
  • Drop kids off at school or bus stop

  • Pick kids up from after-school program

  • Check homework

  • Mediate household spats

  • Prepare kids for bed

  • Style daughter's hair

  • Schedule appointments (doctor, dentist, teacher meetings)

  • Excercise (attend class or play basketball 2 times a week)

  • Visit the salon (every other week)

  • Add numerous family/personal activities to my Blackberry

  • Plan family outings (ie, trip to NC, Cherry Blossoms)

  • Call friends and family

  • Respond to and send personal emails

Not to mention, working 40-50 hours a week!

And responding to all the 'mom cries' on any given day, which could easily exceed 30 a day with 3 children.

So, surely a women's work is never done. What's your typical week like?

wow, A! your list is astonishing...and since I've never really taken the time to compile a list of my own, (besides the one that is etched in my brain!) i'll give it a go--besides. the babies are in the bed and this is my "me" time :)

i'm a single mom of 2yr-old twin girls. i work part-time and juggle 3 of my own businesses--a tutorial service, a home baking business, and a singing group.

here's my typical week:
-dress and feed children and myself each morning
-drop off children at daycare
-work 25 hrs. at part-time job
-meet with tutoring clients (4-6hrs per week)
-pick up children from daycare
-find and do fun and interesting things with children after daycare and on the weekends
-practice at least once with my singing partners
-fulfill baking orders--after babies are fast asleep :)
-pay bills (mostly online)
-balance household budget
-give each child individual mommy snuggle time with a book
-check and respond to emails
-maintain website
-gas up vehicle--maintain cleanliness
-maintain cleanliness of house
-prepare meals for home and work
-grocery shop
-shop for baking and tutoring supplies
-perform light household maintainence/repairs
-complete various paperwork, forms, etc.
-call family and friends
-attend church services

looks like i could use a personal attache' on-a-budget down in here in nc!! this is a PHENOMENAL idea and it sounds like those who take advantage of this service have a lot to gain. i will keep checking back to see how things are going.

blessings,
miss india
